Royal Three Counties Show celebrating 60 years at Malvern

The Royal Three Counties Show returns for its 60th year at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern - and it’s the biggest celebration of the great British countryside yet.

With more than 90,000 visitors expected to join the landmark event in the agricultural calendar, it’s set to be a hearty feast of farming, fine food and family entertainment.

Diana Walton, Head of Shows at the Three Counties, said:

“We’re incredibly proud to mark the 60th year of our namesake show. Our roots stretch back over 220 years but this year we’re celebrating our ‘diamond’ anniversary at the showground with a sparkling line up. We’ve some wonderful new additions including our Gardening Hub, Ask the Groom and the much-loved actors from the Archers.”

Geronimo Festival is delighted to announce their exciting 2018 headliners and families are in for an entertainment-packed long weekend from 25th – 28th May at Arley Hall, Cheshire.

The renowned family festival confirms that children’s TV Megastar, Justin Fletcher is returning to Geronimo at Arley Hall and will headline the Main Stage on Saturday 26th May. The ever-popular Cbeebies star will be on-hand to keep young children and their families entertained on stage during his afternoon performance.

Geronimo FestivalYouTube teen stars, Max and Harvey are also joining the all-star line up for 2018, cementing Geronimo’s place as the premier children’s UK festival.

The third instalment of Bristol New Music, featuring its boldest programme to date, will bring some of the world’s most innovative musical pioneers to the city in April, playing at the Colston Hall, Arnolfini, St George’s Bristol, Spike Island and the University of Bristol. Audiences will get the chance to walk among a live orchestra during a performance, hear synthesised sound pioneer Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith perform in the former Bristol IMAX Cinema and plenty more one-off events.

LoveFit’s inaugural year saw over 1000 music, fitness and healthy food enthusiasts descend upon the tranquil woodlands of the St Clere Estate. Thousands of visitors from around the globe will celebrate Scotland’s national drink this spring at one of the world’s biggest whisky events – the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. The Festival is a five-day celebration comprising around 500 different events scattered across the beautiful region, which lies directly between the cities of Aberdeen and Inverness.

Distillery tours, food pairings, whisky tastings, music and fun combine to provide a packed programme. Visitors will have the chance to take exclusive behind the scenes distillery tours, learn how to pair whisky with food, enjoy traditional music and even take a ride on a whisky themed vintage train.

Shevington village fete promises to be bigger and better than ever!

A village fete which has grown over the past few years promises to offer its biggest and best event in 2018! People in the local community of Shevington, Wigan, were disappointed in 2016 because the annnual Fete could not run due to lack of volunteers. Late last year, the committee saw an influx of willing volunteers and it was decided to hold the event on Saturday 30th June.

The whole community are invited to attend, whether as visitors or stallholders. The stalls don’t just offer locally, handmade crafts, goods and food but also include information stalls with representatives from local and nationwide charities and organisations including Northern Greyhound Rescue, the local branches of Women’s Institute, Butterflies Children’s Charity and The Samaritans of Wigan.

There are just 100 days until the start of the 2018 Chilterns Walking Festival spring event, which takes place from Saturday 19 May to Sunday 03 June 2018.

The programme of over 50 guided walks, events and activities includes opportunities to try short circular walks, take the train for a walk and longer linear walks. What they all have in common is the gorgeous Chilterns landscape - with the mix of rolling farmland, woodlands and spectacular views - and a knowledgeable guide to share stories and point out places of interest.

Bowhouse, Scotland’s most innovative food and drink hub will spring into action again this March with a line up of Food Weekends taking place throughout 2018.

Situated just outside St Monans in Fife, on Balcaskie Estate, Bowhouse Food Weekends are unique indoor events, providing an opportunity to see, discuss, taste and buy the best local food and drink in a vibrant atmosphere with live music and food demonstrations from leading experts.  Bowhouse will welcome a changing roster of the best food and drink producers from Fife and beyond to the free-to-attend food weekends.  With a dedicated street food area and a growing reputation for showcasing the best produce, the markets have become one of the biggest new food and drink events in Scotland.

Return of the Night Market at Balgove Larder

With a programme of live music, crafts, street food and of course, the very best food and drink from Scotland’s best loved farm shop, Balgove Larder is delighted to announce a new season of Night Market’s taking place monthly in 2018.

The markets take place from May to September with an additional Christmas Night Market in December in Balgove Larder’s famous Steak Barn. The Steak Barn is a distinctive converted saw mill with walls made from recycled potato crates and a huge wood-fired barbeque at its centre.  Visitors will be able to choose from a menu of dishes straight off the grill or select snacks from the changing roster of the latest street food outlets.

Newcastle Pride, organised by regional LGBT charity, Northern Pride, has confirmed the festival will be returning to the city, with NE1, Newcastle’s Business Improvement District, sponsoring the event for the fourth year running.

More than 73,000 visitors turned out for the main event in 2017, with a further 650,000 listeners from all over the world tuning in to Pride World Radio’s coverage of the weekend.

Looking to replicate the success of the 2017 festival, which generated more than £9m to the local economy, the 2018 programme has a whole host of events planned in the weeks running up to the main Pride weekend. 

Europe’s largest Tall Ship Races are back

In July 2018, a magnificent fleet of ships will arrive at the port of Sunderland, at the North East coast, in preparation for the Tall Ships Races 2018.

The Races is Europe’s largest, free, family festival and, as start host port, Sunderland will hold four days of celebrations between 11 and 14 July.

Around 1.5m people are expected to visit the city, to explore the ships, cheer the crews of young people from across the UK as they parade through the streets and, on the final day, wave farewell to the ships as they depart for Esbjerg, Denmark.

Celebrate The Magic Of Dal Festival

Full details are announced of the first British Dal Festival - a week of events across the city of Bristol between 19th and 25th March. 

The Festival will celebrate the magic of traditional dals of the Indian subcontinent alongside other pulse dishes from around the world, from the refried beans of Mexico and fava dips of Greece to Britain’s pease pudding and mushy peas. 

The Festival will promote the cultural richness, flavour, and affordability of dal as well as its contribution to health, nutrition and environmental sustainability.  Dal is any split pulse (lentil, bean or pea) or pulse stew or soup. In particular the Festival will highlight pulses grown in the UK such as fava beans and split yellow and green peas, all perfect ingredients for dal.
