Greater Anglia - Best Festivals

With the official start of summer just a few weeks away, festival seasons is nearly upon us. With more than a thousand festivals across the UK each year*, it can be tough to know which ones to choose, and there are often plenty of more unusual events in your local area that offer great entertainment and value for money. With such a range of festivals on offer, Greater Anglia has selected some of the best festivals taking place across the East Anglia region this summer below.

The 3foot People Festival, Chelmsford, Tuesday 26 - Thursday 28 June

This summer, Essex locals, East Anglian’s and those from further afield can come and experience the UK’s largest outdoor festival for pre-school children, The 3foot People Festival. As well as the range of tents, stages and areas to keep all the little ones entertained, there will be Joskins Fayre, an interactive carnival zone to add to the excitement.

The Fling Festival, Chelmsford, Saturday 30 June

Returning to Hylands Park on Saturday 30 June, The Fling Festival is a bespoke music and arts festival for those aged 18 and over. Leading local artists and performers, plus those from far and wide, will provide a unique mix of music, comedy, theatre, cabaret, crafts, burlesque, curious sideshows and more. This year there will be two new stages, both celebrating the best local bands and artists - a perfect opportunity to support home-grown talent.

RiZE Festival, Chelmsford, Friday 17 - Saturday 18 August

Newly announced this year, RiZE Festival is bringing together the best in rock, pop, urban and everything in between, with global superstars Liam Gallagher and Stereophonics headlining over the two evenings. The festival is home to four stages, ensuring that there is something to suit every musical taste. Visitors can experience RiZE festival for the day, or purchase camping tickets to stretch the experience over three nights.

Cambridge Folk Festival, Cambridge, Thursday 2 - Sunday 5 August

Cambridge Folk Festival is one of the longest running folk festivals in the world. Held annually since 1965, it attracts around 14,000 people, many of whom return year after year. Leading the 2018 line-up is Scandinavian folk duo First Aid Kit, performing their range of critically acclaimed hits with their enchanting harmonies expected to spread across Cambridge.

Chappel Summer Beer Festival, East Anglian Railway Museum, Tuesday 4 - Saturday 8 September

Offering over 450 beers, 40 types of ciders and perrys and local wines from the Felsted Vineyard, the Chappel Beer Festival is one not to miss. Located in the unique setting of the East Greater Anglia - Best FestivalsAnglian Railway Museum, this festival provides visitors the perfect excuse to sample some local drinks and then hop on the train home in the evening. The festival also offers a variety of food ranging from the ever popular Hog Roast, Bratwurst, Pizza, Fish & Chips, Burgers and Thai Food.
