Hamsterley Forest

Gradient - Basic routes include some shallow climbs, whereas more difficult routes feature steep downhill sections and TTFs. Graded trails.

Terrain - Off-road trailhamsterley forest

Suitability - Devoted routes suitable for families & younger cyclists, accompanied bytechnical trails for more skilled riders.

Surf Snowdonia has announced the headline acts for its first ever music and surf festival, Electric Wave.
 
Mercury Prize-winning artist Badly Drawn Boy and Capital FM DJ Anton Powers will top the bill at the three-day festival which takes place at Surf Snowdonia from 14-16 July.
 
Joining the headliners will be Bez from Happy Mondays, 25 Years of Cream, General Levy, Showhawk Duo and DJ Yoda as well as big local talent like Calfari and the The Spitting Pips. More names are set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

British Asparagus Asks Everyone To “Turn the Vale Green for The Gras” Including Tom Jones

The Vale of Evesham is hoping to go green from 23rd April in celebration of its venerable vegetable – the asparagus. Businesses throughout the region, which extends from the Malvern Hills to the outskirts of Stratford – have already signed up for the campaign.

Numerous iconic buildings in Evesham and the Vale are going green for the gras, including:

  • Almonry Heritage Centre:
  • The Fleece at Bretforton:
  • Raphaels Restaurant:
  • The Asparagus Man, Gus's house in Badsey  

 

Supporting the campaign is Buzz Electrical in Evesham who are happy to advise any company on how they can go green using existing floodlights or installing them especially.

Buckingham Literary Festival 2017 Returns with Stellar Line Up

Following the success of the 2016 Buckingham Literary Festival, the line-up for 2017 has been announced and boasts some of the biggest names in literature, politics and entertainment.

The three day event, which takes place from Friday 30 June to Sunday 2 July, brings an exciting mix of talks, discussions, poetry, film and theatre to the beautiful market town of Buckingham.

 

Authors including Louise Doughty, whose novel Apple Tree Yard was recently adapted by the BBC, children’s author Jacqueline Wilson, poet Roger McGough and Peter James, international best-selling crime and thriller writer will be speaking. There will also be the opportunity for the audience to question the authors, meet them in person and get their books signed.

The award winning Board Games Championships is back after its success last year to reinforce the traditional pastime in a technology-led Britain. 

Despite the growth of modern gaming technology such as consoles and tablets, board games have seen a new lease of life in recent times with statistics revealing almost a 40% rise in purchases of traditional games.

The 2017 National Board Games Championship is the brain child of the UK’s leading pork pie manufacturer Pork Farms.  Pork Farms  is running the championship in partnership with the Micropub Association, the organisation which promotes small independent pubs who offer a ‘back-to-basics’ ethos that encourages good conversation and no technology in its venues.

Arundel Castle Packed 2017 Events Calendar

Arundel Castle in West Sussex will celebrate the 950th anniversary of its initial construction this year.  To celebrate, the Castle has arranged a bumper calendar of events from dazzling displays of flowers in its gardens to thrilling historical interpretations including a week-long jousting and medieval tournament. Reopening to visitors on 01 April, the Castle’s calendar boasts two brand new events as well as the return of several visitor favourites.

Kicking off the open season and new for 2017, the Warriors of Arundel Castle (8-9 April 2017 and 17 September 2017) will explore 1,000 years the Castle’s tumultuous history with costume, crafts, weapons and thrilling combat displays.

Aquarium reveals brand new installation, Claws

Pincers at the ready for an armoured invasion at Sea Life Brighton this April, as the aquarium unveils its latest captivating installation, Claws.

A must-visit attraction for young and old alike, Claws will open to the public on 22 April 2017. The installation welcomes a host of fascinating new shell-dwelling creatures to the world’s oldest operating aquarium. 

The undisputed stars of the show will be two statuesque Japanese Spider Crabs. The largest of the crabs, which were previously housed at Sea Life Helsinki, has a leg span of a whopping 1.3 metres and can grow to the size of a car!

Wardown House, Museum and Gallery will be officially reopened by Luton’s Mayor Cllr Tahir Khan on Saturday 8 April at 12pm.
 
Since closing its doors in March 2016, the museum has been undergoing a magnificent transformation; and the reopening has been eagerly anticipated by many; gone are the traditional exhibition spaces and museum displays, now visitors can get hands-on and up close with Luton’s history.
