Extraordinary Everyday - Wardown House reopens!

Wardown House, Museum and Gallery will be officially reopened by Luton’s Mayor Cllr Tahir Khan on Saturday 8 April at 12pm.
Since closing its doors in March 2016, the museum has been undergoing a magnificent transformation; and the reopening has been eagerly anticipated by many; gone are the traditional exhibition spaces and museum displays, now visitors can get hands-on and up close with Luton’s history.

The standard distillery tour is a fully sensory experience and takes you on an immersive journey of how The Lakes Distillery’s spirits are created from source to warehouse, mostly focusing on whisky and but additionally featuring gin and vodka. The tours are led by one of the distillery’s experienced tour guides and last roughly an hour. For those who are really passionate about spirit production, two new tours (for adults) were introduced in 2016; the Tasting Tour and the Stillman Masterclass.

Reconnection glamping weekends aim to inspire those with hectic lives


Pause for Effect is launching a brand new series of active, creative and reconnection events this summer in the Hertfordshire countryside, just outside of London. The Pause mission is to create safe, creative sanctuaries away from our crazy, noisy lives, enabling adults and children alike to reset and learn to be comfortable simply being themselves.

Pause for Effect will be using Home Farm Glamping, near Elstree as a base to create inspiring environments that allow participants to play, run, read and learn just like we did as kids. These take the form of three different experiences for families, grown-ups and a land girls activities event.

City fund backing cultural projects and events in the Square Mile announces first grants of new programme

Eight London organisations are the first to receive funding from the Central Grants Programme, a new grants scheme supporting community, cultural, environmental, educational and employment projects in the Square Mile and beyond.

This round of grants from the fund, run by the City of London Corporation, focussed on cultural projects with funding totalling £47,332.

The funding went to a range or projects, from a unique Easter performance about the resurrection of Christ taking place at St Paul’s Cathedral to the expansion of a family festival offering architecturally inspired activities and workshops in the Square Mile.

Surf Snowdonia announces first ever multi discipline race event Waves, Mud & Mountains to take place in Conwy Valley on Sunday 26 March


Surf Snowdonia has announced that it will host its first ever multi discipline event at the end of March 2017. The multi-obstacle challenge will take place at Surf Snowdonia’s adventure parc site and around the village of Dolgarrog in the heart of the Conwy Valley, North Wales.

Waves Mud and Mountains is set to be a challenging circuit which will pit competitors against some of the abundant natural elements of the North Wales landscape, recently named by Lonely Planet as #4 on its global list of Top Regions to explore in 2017.

The distance covered by the course comes in at 5k, but organisers promise that it will test competitors’ stamina, agility and mental strength to the maximum.

In 1997 the old Chipping Village Hall was in desperate need of replacement and the village had started fundraising for a new build. A family fun day was organised with lots of different events taking place all around the village including street stalls and a car boot sale. Mary Harrison came up with the idea of gathering together a few classic vehicles owned by some of the locals and congregating on the Talbot Public House car park.

The 2014 festival saw a direct economic impact of just over £2.7 million with approximately 32,000 locals and visitors coming together to enjoy the events.
