Norfolk & Norwich Festival has today announced the full programme for its 2018 Festival (11 - 27 May). The programme, which spans performance, theatre, music, visual arts, literature, circus, outdoor and family events, includes world and UK premieres, one-off spectaculars, and a host of free events across the Festival. The Festival will showcase renowned international artists from across the globe and countries as widespread as Syria, Australia and India, alongside the best local Norfolk and UK talent presented across the county, from Norwich city centre and Great Yarmouth to Wells-next-the-Sea.

A PORTISHEAD restaurant has this month (February, 2018) launched a new menu designed to help combat food waste. Venga tapas bar and restaurant on the High Street is reducing the ingredients thrown away from its kitchen on a daily basis by introducing a strictly no waste policy.
Manager, Scott Pearce explained: “One of the hottest topics around at the moment is food waste and it’s fast becoming an important issue for our customers wishing to be more environmentally savvy, and to do something to help.

Keep Britain Tidy is urging Brits to sign up and join the UK’s biggest-ever litter clean up. This year the ambition is to recruit more litter pickers than ever before with 400,000 volunteers needed to help clear the streets, parks and coastlines of Britain, from 2nd – 4th March 2018.
Surf Snowdonia’s Waves, Mud and Mountains obstacle run is back for its second year and organisers say that this year’s course will be even longer, harder and muddier than before.
The 10km, race-against-the-elements event will take place on Saturday 24 March 2018, the first day of Surf Snowdonia’s 2018 surf season. The event is set to draw a large crowd in what is now one of the UK’s fastest growing sports: obstacle course racing. Over 250,000 people took part in similar events across the UK in 2017.
Close to 500 competitors turned out to take in the inaugural Waves, Mud and Mountains event a year ago, and Surf Snowdonia says that it has increased the capacity and the level of challenge for this year’s course after listening to feedback from last year’s competitors.
Staff at a Peak District holiday park with its own acclaimed micro-brewery have been toasting their success in a major green awards scheme.
The family-owned Callow Top Holiday Park has won a top gold accolade in the David Bellamy Conservation Awards, and was praised by the world-famous botanist for its raft of green initiatives. One of rural Derbyshire's largest and most highly-rated touring parks, Callow Top was described by Professor Bellamy in his citation as "a wildlife wonderland".
