For London dog owners who still want a social life and visitors to the capital that can’t bear to be parted from their dogs, the search for new dog-friendly drinking and dining destinations is over.
Deptford Market Yard is proud to announce its ‘ Dogs Aloud ’ status in time for this year’s National Dog Day (Saturday 26th Aug). Built within Deptford's renovated historical railway arches and Grade II listed carriage ramp (London's oldest railway structure) Deptford Market Yard is London's latest food and lifestyle hub waiting to be discovered.
Dogs of all shapes and sizes are welcomed at the Yard and the destination thrilled to have its own resident Market Yard pooch in the form of Jacqui, an adorable Jack Russel-Bichon cross. She is usually found in Deptford Market Yard’s in house Salon, The Box, enthusiastically welcoming customers to the hairdressing establishment. Founded by head stylist Guillaume Ossant, the Box is open to all, offering the latest unisex styling, colour and cutting techniques in a wheelchair friendly setting.
The Yard builds on the already thriving local market and retail scene, offering a platform for small businesses, many of which are local start ups, to reach a wider audience and for some, the yard provides business with their first bricks and mortar home. The destination plays host to a variety of events including street food markets, street food parties, free dance classes and history walks.
Deptford Market Yard is perfect for grown ups and children alike who can both enjoy the delights of the street food style vendors, from Indian inspired fast food to Jamaican street fare, all day brunch style dining to a molten cheese bar. For the grown ups and caffeine and cocktail junkies – there’s on-site freshly roasted blend coffees, whilst award winning Little Nan’s cocktail bar and afternoon tea parlour serves their famous Mali Blue slushies.
Shopaholics can peruse the quirky stores open at the Yard, offering everything from African inspired outfits to an urban clothing range to unique lifestyle gifts. Or work out a sweat with new kickboxing fitness gym 9Round, where you can expect to burn up to 500 kcals per workouts.
