The Gorgeous Christmas Craft & Food Fair at Enginuity, Coalbrookdale 18th and 19th November
The long-running Gorgeous contemporary designer craft fair returns to Enginuity in Coalbrookdale, near Ironbridge this November and, for the first time in its history, entry is free. That means you can save your money for all the lovely things you’ll find there…
…and that includes exquisite and unusual jewellery, glassware, ceramics, textiles, fine furniture, prints and metal work from the regions finest designer makers. With a wide variety of handmade designs and individual artworks on offer, you’ll find a wealth of Christmas gift ideas, from magnificent one-off designer pieces to affordable goods.
Organised by the Shropshire Guild of Contemporary Craft and featuring guest craftspeople and artisans from across the West Midlands, Gorgeous is the perfect opportunity to get ahead of your Christmas list or find the perfect gift to give yourself. And there’s more to Gorgeous than just shopping… Throughout the weekend many of the exhibitors will be demonstrating their craft, giving you an insight to their work and an opportunity to ask questions. And, if all of that works up an appetite, you’ll find tasty treats from some of the regions food providers available to eat or take home.
This year top exhibitors include:
Furniture maker Robert Shelton combines traditional design with a contemporary twist to create furniture of real character. Using locally sourced wood he crafts individual pieces of great character – and specialises in Windsor chairs.
Jeweller Sarah Piper Heap works in silver and other natural materials to create jewellery and tableware from her studio in the borderland of Shropshire and North Wales.
Ceramicist and sculptor Caroline Bennett creates unique figurative and free-flowing sculptures for the house and garden using a range of techniques, from coil and slab building to throwing and slip casting.
Now in its 13th year, Gorgeous is a celebration of creative skills, promoting the work of designers and craftsmen in the region, many of whom enjoy status as internationally recognised artists. It also builds on The Gorge’s rich heritage of creativity; the place where early industrialists mined for raw materials to make iron, tiles and porcelain goods.
Gorgeous is open 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday and admittance is free.
For further information, call Caroline Bennett on 01746 765078, email email@example.com or visit www.shropshireguild.co.uk. The Gorge is easily reached via the M6 and M54 motorways exiting at Telford (M54 junction 4 or 6).
