A remote peninsula of wild and unforgettable beauty, jutting out of the west highlands into the ocean, the British mainland's most westerly point.
Whether you're looking for a romantic break, a family holiday, or an unforgettable adventure, we have the ideal spot for you. Stay in a beautiful country home, a cosy hillside cabin, a remote bothy on the shore, or even the original lighthouse keeper's cottage, nestled below the mighty Ardnamurchan Lighthouse. All our cottages enjoy spectacular sea views and are set to the majestic backdrop of western Ardnamurchan, where we started our family-run business, Steading Holidays, over forty years ago.
Discover spectacular mountains, glens, and ancient Atlantic woodland, encompassed by miles of beaches and unexplored coves, home to otters, eagles, pine martens, and the elusive wildcat. For dramatic heights scale heather blanketed mountains or traverse the Ardnamurchan volcano crater to get a real sense of Ardnamurchan’s epic and infamous geology. Weave around rugged shores, home to curious seals, by foot or kayak, keeping an eye out for whales, dolphins and basking sharks. Sail out to sea by boat to discover the Tresnish Isles to enter the cavernous Fingal’s Cave and wade amongst gregarious puffins. For wonderful seafood and fine whiskies take the thirty-five minute ferry from Kilchoan to the colourful, fishing town of Tobermory, on the Isle of Mull, to peruse a treasure trove of restaurants, cafes, arts and crafts. Set out to explore ancient castles and forts to savour the atmosphere of the highland’s fascinating and turbulent past. Watch the sun melt behind the Hebrides, and marvel at our immense dark skies, brimming with stars and frequented by the magical Northern lights.
We pride ourselves on our returning visitors, who share our love and appreciation of the wild beauty of this remote peninsula. Whether you're looking for peace and freedom, elusive Scottish wildlife, epic adventures on land and sea, or simply to be lulled by the unhurried pace of this remote and wild corner of the world, you’ll find it impossible not to be captivated by the beauty of Ardnamurchan.
