Looking to plan a fun-filled Christmas? There are plenty of activities happening near you where families and friends can join together to get in the festive spirit. Some events have been running for years, like Anderton Boat Lift, whereas others are brand new, such as Sawley Marina’s Christmas Market, but they can all be found in the info graphic below. Packed out every year, Anderton Boat Lift is a popular choice for the festive season as it provides a cruise with Santa along the River Weaver.
Officially known as the cathedral of the canal, the event also includes storytelling, songs and a Christmas present for every child, making it a memorable trip for all. If a short walk is of more interest then why not head over to the famous Grand Union Canal, where a waterside walk is held every Christmas. Taking place on the 27th December, it is a perfect way to strength those legs after a few days on the sofa and burn off the extra food.
Or want to try something new? Why not visit Sawley Marina’s Christmas Market, which is launching this winter. The market will have a variety of stalls, offer a mix of activities and have plenty of food. Plus, it is all for a good cause!
Host BWML Boat Mooring, explain: “One of the main purposes behind why we hold our events is not just for you to come and look around and buy from our stall holders, but to also help raise funds for the Linjoy Wildlife Sanctuary who we have been supporting for around two years. By attending our market, you will also be helping support this good cause as well.”
