Saturday was officially the first day of spring and the warm weather has brought a surge of flowers to National Trust gardens in the Lake District. Here’s some top tips on the best places to visit and what to see over the spring months. 

Known as being one of the first signs of spring, snowdrops or ‘milk flowers’ have been out in force for a few weeks. The dainty blooms are so pretty, there’s a walk dedicated to them at Sizergh near Kendal where you can see them in all their glory.

LONDON visitors keen to escape the city’s hustle and bustle are invited to take tea on the Thames this spring.

Leading Thames river cruise company Bateaux London, at river cruise has announced the return of its afternoon tea cruises on the largest and most sophisticated boat on the river.

From 2 April, on Wednesdays through to Saturdays, Bateaux London’s flagship, Harmony, will weigh anchor to take guests on a 75-minute cruise, taking in some of the city’s most iconic landmarks.


Artists Open Houses Festival 2016

The Artists Open Houses festival 2016 will take place in Brighton, Hove and beyond over the five weekends of May, starting Saturday April 30th(Bank Holiday Weekend). The organisers are pleased to announce that over 60 new artists houses and studios will be taking part in the festival this year.

The largest event of its kind in the UK, around 200 houses and studio spaces across the city open their doors to exhibit the work of over 1,500 artists and makers. Last year over 200,000 people visited the festival.

Hunt for Easter fun is on with National Trust for Scotland and Cadbury

Dozens and dozens of Easter hunts take place at the National Trust for Scotland’s historic houses, glorious gardens and cracking countryside over the Easter weekend.

For the ninth consecutive year, the conservation charity has teamed up with Cadbury to host Cadbury Easter Egg Hunts all over the country from Friday 25 to Monday 28 March, from Dumfries and Galloway to Wester Ross.

An enormous ‘glamping village’ has been built at the Caravan Camping and Motorhome Show to promote Pembrokeshire as a place to visit all year round. The size of two tennis courts, the village includes three inter-connected yurts, a dragon design tipi, two classic VW campervans, a Lotus Bell Tent, ab amazing see-through inflatable Bubble Tent and a timbereco-pod. The exhibits will be set in different themed areas including woodland and beach scenes and even a snow scene.

On Wednesday 16th March 2016, as part of the Worldwide Hydration and Nutrition Week 2016, the Travel and Tourism students in conjunction with The National Association of Care Caterers are preparing to stage Jersey’s Biggest Afternoon Tea Party Ever for over 55s across multiple venues in the island.

Currently, in the initial stages of planning, the students are encouraging local care and residential homes to participate and stage their own afternoon tea party, in order to help break the current Guinness World Record!
