In 1997 the old Chipping Village Hall was in desperate need of a replacement and the village had to start fundraising for a new build. A family fun day was organised with lots of different events taking place all around the village including street stalls and a car boot sale. Mary Harrison BEM came up with the idea of gathering together a few classic vehicles owned by some of the locals and congregating on the Talbot Public House car park.

The Shireburn Arms at Hurst Green, in the shadow of the iconic Pendle Hill and a stone's throw from the homes of the women and men famously executed for witchcraft, is offering guests a stay discovering the story of events which took place against a background of spiritual hysteria 404 years ago.

“It’s Christmas time…and there’s no need to be afraid” because the team at Lancaster Brewery, once again, have it all sorted for gifts, festive food, stocking fillers and presents for your loved ones.

Now in its fourth year, this hugely popular event, at Lancaster Leisure Park, is back.  Taking place between 3pm and 9pm on Friday 25th, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th November, this year our exhibitors will be housed in a huge indoor marquee to keep you warm and dry, whilst you browse stalls packed full of crafts, gifts and goodies to add to your present list.

Big air at Ayrshire’s castle in the sky

One of the UK’s top BMX demo teams is dropping in to the National Trust for Scotland’s Culzean Castle and Country Park on Sunday 18 September as part of a celebration of pedal power.

The 3SIXTY bicycle stunt team will be amongst the attractions at the historic estate’s first ever cycling festival. They’ll be performing amazing tricks in the beautiful grounds of Culzean Castle.

Bikes, trikes and unicycles are all welcome at the event which is intended to encourage visitors to discover a new dimension to the historic Ayrshire estate’s heritage. Visitors can pick up a map and get going on their own adventure, or head out on a guided Cycle Safari using fabulous electric bikes supplied by 'The Hub'.

Snowdog Sculpture gets a warm welcome as he arrives in the North East

SNOWDOGS are coming from all corners of the UK to take part in the largest free public art trail ever to be held in the North East.

On 19 September, streets, parks and open spaces across Sunderland, Gateshead and Tyneside, will become home to 60 giant Snowdog sculptures, individually decorated by artists and celebrities alike.

Families’ called to lace up their trainers in the fight against heart disease

Families can make their mark in the fight for every heartbeat by becoming British Heart Foundation (BHF) Heart Runners and taking part in an annual event at one of London’s most famous parks. Entries are now open for the 3rd Victoria Park Run, which is taking place on 7 August.

Families are being invited to join over 1,000 runners to fight back against coronary heart disease, the UK’s single biggest killer. Last year, those who took on the challenge helped raise over £34,000 for the BHF’s essential and life saving research, which is improving the lives of those affected by heart disease every day.
