Summer festival experts turn Christmas Market into new winter wonderland festival

The European-style Christmas market in the cathedral quarter of the Hertfordshire city of St Albans is getting a festival makeover this year with summer festival organisers Meraki creating its first free Christmas Mini-Festival, which will provide festival-style entertainment and hospitality throughout the 25-day duration of the Christmas Market.

Visitors to the market will be treated to live music everyday on a stage inside a giant tipi, where they will be able to relax, enjoy a festive drink, food and music from a wide range of performers, including local talent as well as some of the top musicians from the UK, along with street performers, theatre performances and acoustic music.

Good vibrations expected for Conwy Valley’s first ever surf-side Christmas Market

A real ale tent complete with fire pit, a surf-side Santa’s grotto, some brilliant live music and stacks of local producers will be among the features of a unique Christmas market coming to Surf Snowdonia in December.

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Conwy Valley’s forests and mountains – and on the shores of their world-first inland surf lagoon – the Surf Snowdonia Christmas Market will take place over the weekend of the 10-11 December, exactly two weeks before Christmas.

Let them eat cake!

As the temperatures rise, afternoon tea is really tempting, sitting outside in the sun, with scones and cream...  or so I thought... But I can confirm now you can have too much of a good thing – even cake!

After a visit to Turbary Woods Owl and Birds of Prey centre, in Preston, to enjoy watching the rescue and rehabilitation centre’s birds in flight, we wandered into Duxburys Garden Centre.

The owl sanctuary is just behind the garden centre and in fact you walk through it to reach the bird sanctuary.
