Highclere Castle will host a weekend dedicated to the commemoration of the First World War and to fundraise for those who have served and serve today, following the discovery of wreckages in the grounds.

On 8th and 9th September Highclere Castle will welcome several thousand visitors to engage and raise money for UK and other countries’ veterans and charities including Combat Stress, RBL,  MSF, The Royal British Legion and homeless charities including Launchpad.

Now in its 12th year, the annual Ironbridge Gorge Walking Festival, 29th April – 7th May, is offering 57 walks, making it probably the biggest in the West Midlands and one of the best in the country.

The Festival is not just for people with big rucksacks, walking poles and expensive boots but is two events in one; it offers 32 ‘themed’ walks ranging from two to 10 miles, and 25 walks which are longer and for the more experienced walker.

BBC Radio 2 DJ, Janice Long, has been announced as the host of the main stage at next month’s Folk Festival on the Dock (August 26-29). The Liverpool-born DJ, who is a patron to Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, was the first female presenter of Top of the Pops and is renowned for promoting new talent, giving the likes of Amy Winehouse, The Smiths, Primal Scream, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Adele their first big break.

Tourism boost expected from leading LGBT festival

A popular event, which annually attracts up to 70,000 people, is expected to boost the North East’s tourism trade when it returns next month. Newcastle Pride, one of the largest free LGBT festivals in the UK, generated around 8000 bed nights in 2015, with up to 14 per cent of visitors opting to stay overnight.

This year, accommodation providers across the city are gearing up for an even bigger influx of guests, with many focussing their efforts on the event’s main music weekend beginning Friday July 15.

A bumper crop of creative characters is expected for this year's Settle Flowerpot Festival.

The third annual Flowerpot Festival in the North Craven market town comes hot in the tyremarks of the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race and everyone is getting into the spirit of the event.

Heidi Kettle, marketing manager of Falcon Manor, Settle's luxury country house hotel, said: "We are looking forward to a fantastic display of flowerpots this summer. We can't wait to see Settle going planter potty once again."

This summer, the Capability Brown Festival 2016 celebrates the life, work and legacy of Royal Gardener and landscape architect Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown with a range of special art exhibitions across the country.

Like an artist, Brown framed views and used perspective to create beautiful naturalistic landscapes which are still much admired today, three hundred years after his birth.  Inspired by Brown’s stunning landscapes, these exhibitions will encourage people to take a fresh, new look at his work.

Plans are in hand to hold, Thorpefest, an exciting new summer outdoor music festival at the Thorpeness Country Club, near Aldeburgh on Suffolk’s Heritage Coast on Saturday, 2nd July.

Featuring a great line-up with nearly a dozen bands performing live from 12noon until 10pm, the open air charity concert would replace the popular Music by the Sea event, which has been held outside the White Lion Hotel on Aldeburgh’s sea front since 2012, with the support of Aldeburgh Town Council and local residents.

The Artists Open Houses festival 2016 will take place in Brighton, Hove and beyond over the five weekends of May, starting Saturday April 30th(Bank Holiday Weekend). The organisers are pleased to announce that over 60 new artists houses and studios will be taking part in the festival this year.

The largest event of its kind in the UK, around 200 houses and studio spaces across the city open their doors to exhibit the work of over 1,500 artists and makers. Last year over 200,000 people visited the festival.
